Reframe App Reviews: A Well-Rated App Whose Own Documents Disagree
A fact-check of the Reframe app and Reframe Med+ from their own pages and rating sites: prices, cancellation rules, privacy, evidence and the compounded drug.

Short answer
Reframe is a paid drink-less app from Glucobit Inc., rated 4.7 stars from about 45,000 Apple ratings and 4.5 on Google Play.1,2 Its documents disagree: four set different cancellation rules. Its Med+ add-on uses compounded naltrexone with vitamin B6, which is not FDA-approved, and posts no price.3-7

The app is a 160-day daily program
Reframe's core is a 160-day education program.2 Each day brings a short task such as a reading or a meditation, and Reframe aims to keep it to 15 minutes a day or less.4 Around that sit a drink tracker, recorded and live courses, a 24/7 private forum, and craving tools like games and videos.9
Live group meetings are included. They're scheduled around Pacific and Eastern time.4 One-on-one Thrive Coaching, with daily chat with a coach, costs extra on top of a Premium membership.4 The app runs on iPhone, Apple Watch and Android, and a web version is planned.1,4
Reframe's About page lists a five-person scientific board, three of them with Emory University titles.10 The list hasn't changed since at least 2021, and it's out of date: the board's chairman, Mark Rapaport, had left Emory by November 2020, when the University of Utah named him to lead its Huntsman Mental Health Institute.11-14 The Med+ site names no clinicians or advisers.6
Reframe's price depends on the offer you get
Price is the first of three places where Reframe's sources disagree; cancellation and privacy follow. Reframe doesn't post one price. Prices vary because plans are personalized, and the average is about $100 a year. Its help page also says Reframe "provides annual subscriptions only that are billed once a year."15
Apple's US listing doesn't match that. On October 17, 2026, it showed these in-app purchases1:
| Plan name on Apple's listing | Price |
|---|---|
| Reframe Access (Monthly) | $13.99 |
| Reframe (Monthly) | $19.99 |
| Reframe Silver (Monthly) | $24.99 |
| Reframe (Annual) | $59.99, $79.99, $99.99 or $119.99 (four listings) |
| Reframe Access (Yearly) | $79.99 |
| Reframe Premium | $99.99 |
| Reframe Silver (Annual) | $119.99 |

So monthly plans exist, at least on iPhone, and the price you're offered may not match any single row. A Google Play review near the top of the listing on October 17 complained that the cost wasn't shown until after the sign-up questions.2
New users get a 7-day free trial.4,15 If your plan had one, the current terms (posted on the Med+ site, and covering the app too) let Reframe charge you when it ends unless you cancel first.5
Four documents, four cancellation rules
Reframe's own documents don't agree on how early you have to cancel, or whether you can get money back.
| Document | Cancel how early? | Refunds? |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play listing | "Payment must be canceled at least 24 hours prior to renewal."2 | Not stated |
| App terms of service (updated Dec 30, 2023) | Auto-renews "unless you cancel your subscription at least thirty (30) days before such renewal"3 | "payments are nonrefundable and there are no refunds or credits for partially used periods"3 |
| Reframe FAQ | "a little before your renewal date"4 | Contact Reframe within 24 hours of a charge for a likely full refund if unused; later, maybe partial. A second answer on the same page says refunds "will be handled directly through Apple."4 |
| Terms posted on the Med+ site (cover the app too) | "at least 1 day prior to the next scheduled payment/ship date"5 | Current cycle only, and only if your medication hasn't been ordered yet5 |
What four Reframe documents say about cancelling and refunds.
Document: Google Play listing
- Cancel how early?
- "Payment must be canceled at least 24 hours prior to renewal."2
- Refunds?
- Not stated
Document: App terms of service (updated Dec 30, 2023)

Cancel where you subscribed: Apple's subscriptions screen on iPhone, Google Play on Android, or the app's settings if you paid Reframe directly. Deleting the app does not cancel the plan.4
To be safe, cancel at least 30 days before renewal, the strictest rule in the table, and screenshot the confirmation.
Reframe's privacy statements don't match
| Where | What it says |
|---|---|
| Reframe FAQ | HIPAA compliant, and "We do not share or sell your information with advertisers."4 |
| Apple App Store privacy label (developer-supplied, not verified by Apple) | Device identifiers "may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies"; "Third-Party Advertising" is listed as a use of data linked to you1 |
| Google Play data safety section | "No data shared with third parties."2 |
What Reframe's privacy statements say, by where they appear.
Where: Reframe FAQ

- HIPAA compliant, and "We do not share or sell your information with advertisers."4
Where: Apple App Store privacy label (developer-supplied, not verified by Apple)

If privacy matters to you, turn off app tracking in your phone settings and read the privacy policy before you sign up.
Reframe's success numbers are its own
Reframe's FAQ says "91% of Reframe users report a substantial decrease in alcohol use within 3 months."4 Its outcome figures come from "internal app data and self-reported surveys" from engaged members. They cover the app as a whole, not Med+ or medication.6 A survey of engaged members leaves out people who stopped using the app, so a figure like 91% can't tell you how likely the app is to work for a new user.
Reframe mentions research partners at Emory and Harvard but doesn't link to results.10 A PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov search on October 17, 2026, found no published or registered trial of the app.
Reframe also sells Liquid Luck, a non-alcoholic drink line billed as "The First Non-Alcoholic Drink Designed to Ease Alcohol Cravings." Ingredients include L-glutamine, 5-HTP and ashwagandha. The product page cites no studies of the drinks.16

App store ratings come from people who have the app installed. Trustpilot reviews come from people who seek the site out, since Reframe hasn't been inviting customers there. The two groups differ, which may explain why the scores do too. Trustpilot's AI summary says reviewers praise the community and daily readings, and describes feedback on subscriptions as ambiguous.8
Reframe's own Reviews page is titled "A Few of Our Favorite Reviews," and some entries date from 2022 and 2023.17 It is a curated set, not a neutral sample. For accounts from people who took naltrexone, through Med+ or elsewhere, see naltrexone reviews.
Reframe Med+ uses a compounded drug
Med+ adds a prescription to the app. You fill out a roughly 10-minute assessment. A licensed provider then approves you by message or sets up a brief video visit, depending on your answers and your state. If you're prescribed, the medication ships in 3 to 5 days and refills are automatic.6 Foothills Professional Pharmacy in Tempe, Arizona, is the named partner pharmacy.6
What to weigh:
- Compounded, not FDA-approved. The Med+ homepage says it "pairs a compounded Naltrexone + B6 medication" with the app. The disclaimer lower on the same page is softer: "In some cases, your prescription may be dispensed as a compounded medication."6 Patients sign a consent form acknowledging that the FDA doesn't approve or review compounded products.18 A compounded drug is also not the same as an FDA-approved generic.7
- The B6 isn't explained. The Med+ site doesn't say why vitamin B6 is added. FDA's drug databases list no product that combines naltrexone with pyridoxine (vitamin B6).6,19,20
- A big number without a source. The Med+ homepage cites a "65%" drop in heavy drinking days from clinical studies of naltrexone, without naming the studies.6 In the FDA label, naltrexone tablets were studied at 50 mg once a day for 12 weeks alongside counseling. It hasn't been shown to help except as part of a full addiction treatment plan.21
- Not pitched as treatment. Reframe's Med+ FAQ says the service "is not intended to diagnose or treat alcohol use disorder."6 Treating alcohol dependence is one of naltrexone's FDA-approved uses.21 If you think you have alcohol use disorder, a service that treats it directly may suit you better.
- Opioids rule it out. Naltrexone can't be combined with opioid pain medicine, methadone or buprenorphine, and using opioids after stopping it carries an overdose risk. Liver injury is a label warning too.21 The full list is on naltrexone side effects.
FDA-approved generic naltrexone tablets are also on the market, with a prescription.20
Pros and cons
Pros
- Daily structure, a 24/7 forum and live meetings with nothing to book.4,9
- Built for cutting back, not just quitting.4
- High app store ratings from more than 50,000 raters across Apple and Google.1,2
- Works outside the US.4
Cons
- No fixed public price.15
- A 30-day cancellation notice clause in the app terms, and no refunds under those terms.3
- Success figures are self-reported and company-run.6
- Med+ posts no price.6
- The Google Play listing says Reframe can help you "fully detox," which its FAQ contradicts.2,4
Who should use it, and who shouldn't
Reframe fits someone who wants to drink less, likes reading and checking in daily, and wants other people around for support, without a prescription. If you start the trial, put the renewal date in your calendar on day one.
Skip it, or start elsewhere, if you:
- get withdrawal symptoms when you stop drinking. Reframe tells people with withdrawal symptoms to get medical help right away.4
- want an FDA-approved naltrexone product. A regular prescription filled at a pharmacy is one route.20
- want a clinician to treat alcohol use disorder itself.6

Maybe within 24 hours of a charge, according to the FAQ, though the app's terms say payments are nonrefundable. See cancellation rules.3,4
Does Reframe take insurance?
No.4
